Notion of Fate

According to Webster Dictionary fate is defined as the will or principle or determining cause by which things in general are believed to come to be as they are or events to happen as they do . I have been surprised lately as I see things occuring in the world and my own individual life that there just might be something that exists like fate or even destiny. Sometimes we wish for something so much and so hard to find out that when we recieve it... well it wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Or even worse it turns out to be a disaster for us in one way or another.

I had this happen a few years ago with a potential relationship that I wanted so badly. I really thought that this man was the best possible person for me. We had our time together and the more time we spent together and the more I saw who he was in relation to me: and the relationship was toxic! Not really good for either one of us. All those thoughts and dreams of finding the perfect person soon became a complete nightmare! I am still friends with this man but realized really quickly that if I had just listened to the little intuitive voice inside of me that kept saying "Asha he really isn't for your highest good".. cause the voice was there for sure. I just wanted it so bad that I thought it was just doubt or fear that was trying to steer me away from the potential of this relationship.

Well now I fast forward 2 years and I have had a moment of reflection on this and many other examples in my own life. I can completely see why I am not with that man and am really grateful. I am still friends with him and wish him happiness always. We were just not healthy for one another.

So how much does fate or destiny play into our lives? Or is that all there is? That no matter what turn we take we are always led back to the "right" path for ourselves.

I was brought up with the influence of Eastern philosophical and spiritual practices and principles. Almost all of them support the notion of everything being predetermined or predestined and that everything in fact happens for the precise reason that it needs to. That to force an issue or matter in our lives goes against what is intended for our higher good. Hmmm.... do I believe this?? Well this is something that I am pondering on today for sure. As I am seeing alot of new things occuring in my life now such as new relationships, new opportunities and new adventures. I find it fascinating to see what is "sticking" and what is not. The things that are not sticking seem to make me a bit sad, but at the same time, maybe it is protecting me from real heartache or disappointment. Maybe it is fate playing it's hand and for the first time I am just allowing it to do so rather than fighting it. I have had those bad experiences in the past where I have almost regreted wanting something so bad. Not just having the desire for it, but actually being consumed till I got what I wanted. Kind of like a spoiled kid I guess :) But now it is time to just lay low and observe what is happening and just believe that it is for the highest good for all parties involved. Eventually all situations and people reveal the truest of their essence.

If I really stop and think about it, my move to Europe was given an extra boost by the hand of fate. Things just started falling into place as soon as I said to myself that I really wanted to do this and wanted to be given the right opportunity. And now here I am with the right opportunities and meeting the right people along the way. So maybe it just takes listening to what it is that you truly desire in your life rather than what you think you should be wanting.

I don't think I will figure this out today though :)

I hope everyone is doing well. Thanks for your emails. Sorry I am a bit slow right now in responding, just taking some "me" time. That is much needed at the moment.

In love and gratitude

Asha
