Perfect Timing

Today was a beautiful day in the south of Holland , the sun shining brightly and abnormally high temperatures for this time of year and for this location. I am not complaining though considering I just moved here from the great southwest (with a small pit stop in North Carolina)where the sun shined almost every day it seemed like. I use to complain about the extreme heat there. I can't say that I miss the heat from Texas but on the colder days here when the northern winds are howling about, it makes me kind of appreciate the heat from the great southwest!

I began my day with my 30 minute walk one way to my Dutch Class. It is a great walk through the city center , down the Rijjksweg( kind of a main highway but not...) into the older part of the town. Along this walk, you get to see all the stores, a ton of bicycles, old houses, little cafes, a few churches, a few parks and whatever else might be around. This morning I was lucky. I left early today, had my mp3 player blasting Lenny Kravitz's new album :), backpack on my back and I was ready to go in the 28 degree weather( for me that still feels cold). I was walking a little earlier than usual because I thought I might stop by a popular bakkerij(bakery) for a nice morning treat. I walked into the bakery in perfect timing for the first batch of Dutch morning treats fresh from the oven. I got my chocolate stukje and continued on my morning walk. As I walked along the Rijksweg I saw a glimpse of the sun coming up. I was very excited about this because I had not been awake in time to catch the sunrise. (well at least in the Netherlands that is) There is a small park along my walk in the morning and since I was early this morning I thought I would sit down for a moment and take in the sunrise. It was absolutely breathtaking. The sun coming up over the shadow of an old church steeple lighting up the sky and everything around. I wish I had a camera at the time but I don't think it would have captured the true beauty of the moment. It was really a great way to start the day.

On my way back from class I started thinking about how many times have we been in the right place at the right time. Given the right place, the right timing, the right surroundings so much happens. I kind of think that wherever we go it is always the perfect timing in our lives. It is just a matter if we notice it or not. For me I am getting the opportunity to notice it more and realize it has probably happened more often than I notice. This morning and throughout the day felt like I had perfect timing everywhere I went to. I had a very fulfilling feeling today going through my day feeling like I had perfect timing on my side. The lesson for me today was that everything happens in perfect timing. Just need to patient sometimes :) That is the fun part.

I wanted to thank those of you that have been back in touch with me after a long time. I appreciate your thoughts and emails. I hope everyone of you get to enjoy some "perfect timing" in your week.

In gratitude

Asha
